With an ED (Extra-low Dispersion glass) lens, it achieves a field of view with extremely low chromatic aberration and excellent contrast.
With the dual focus ring, fine focusing is easy. A smartphone camera adapter is included. This allows you to easily enjoy imaging with your smartphone.
In optical instruments that gather light using lenses, color bleeding (chromatic aberration) occurs due to the difference in refractive index depending on the wavelength (color) of light. Since chromatic aberration cannot be corrected with a single lens, it is corrected using two or more lenses with different properties. The effectiveness of this correction also varies depending on the material of the lenses used. Therefore, in the objective lens of the GEOMA III ED80 ZOOM, which is composed of two lenses, an ED glass lens (Extra-low Dispersion glass) is adopted as one of the elements. Chromatic aberration is efficiently corrected by combining this ED lens with another lens that has compatible properties. This suppresses chromatic aberration to an extremely high level, achieving remarkably sharp depiction.
PFM5 coating (Perfect Fully 5 Multilayered-Coated) is applied with 5 layers of anti-reflection multi-coating on all optical surfaces of the lenses. Compared to PFM coating (Fully Multi-Coated), which has 3 layers of multi-coating applied to all optical surfaces of the lenses, this results in less light loss. This achieves a brighter field of view and excellent contrast.
This is a zoom lens specification that allows for stepless magnification changes from 20x to 60x. Additionally, it features a parfocal design, meaning the focus position remains nearly the same even when changing magnification. Once focused, there is almost no need to refocus even when changing the magnification, allowing you to concentrate on observation.
It features a long eye relief design (eye relief 20-18mm), that allows you to view the field of view comfortably without pressing the eyepiece strongly against your eye,. Furthermore, it utilizes a large diameter eyepiece of 24mm,and employs twist-up eyecups whose height can be changed by turning them with your finger. This design helps reduce eye fatigue even during extended observation. You can view a wide field of view whether you are using it naked-eyed or wearing eyeglasses.
Equipped with a dual focus focusing ring that allows focusing at two speeds: coarse and fine (with a reduction ratio of 1:9). After quickly focusing with the coarse adjustment, the focus position can be precisely fine-tuned with the fine adjustment. This makes precise focusing very smooth for observing details like bird feathers or for photography.
The eyepiece is angled 45 degrees relative to the scope body. This allows you to observe in a comfortable posture, whether observing while seated for extended periods or observing objects at high positions.
A smartphone camera adapter is supplied as standard. It is compatible with most models of commercially available smartphones and camera-equipped mobile phones, allowing you to easily enjoy photography.
The optical tube can be rotated left and right around the optical axis. This allows the eyepiece (the viewing part) to be moved to an easy-to-view position, and also makes image rotation for photography very smooth.
The tripod seat is equipped with a 1/4 inch screw (camera screw, with video boss hole), allowing it to be mounted on 1/4 inch standard camera tripods (sold separately, commercially available).
Waterproof specification equivalent to IPX6, achieved by filling with inert nitrogen gas. This allows for safe use even outdoors where they are susceptible to rain and night dew.
A protective case that can be used while the field scope body is mounted on a tripod comes as standard. A shoulder strap is also included, making it very convenient for carrying. The shoulder strap is detachable and can be removed if you are concerned about the effect of wind. The length can also be adjusted.
