This set includes the compact SD81SII optical tube with a high-performance SD objective lens, an AP mount composed of modular parts, and the lightweight APP-TL130 tripod. Two eyepieces are also provided as standard, allowing you to begin observing immediately.
The SD81SII optical tube is the successor to the SD81S, and its photographic performance has been enhanced by introducing a ring spacer to eliminate light streaks.
This set includes an SD81SII optical tube with the high-performance SD lens, an AP equatorial mount, and an APP-TL130 tripod. Two eyepieces are also provided, allowing you to start observing immediately upon setup.

A high-performance photo-visual SD81SII featuring an SD (Super ED) glass lens that effectively suppresses chromatic aberration for clear and sharp star images. Its F7.7 focal ratio provides a well-balanced 625 mm focal length with an 81 mm effective aperture, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from planetary observation to photographing nebulae and star clusters.
When combined with an SD Reducer HD Kit and an SD Flattener HD Kit (both sold separately), it achieves a 44 mm image circle, covering the full-frame DSLR sensor. The conventional three spacers around the objective lens have been replaced with a ring-shaped spacer, eliminating light streaks and producing aesthetically pleasing star images.
The optical tube comes with a Flip Mirror Diagonal that allows quick switching between eyepieces of different magnifications with a single dial. Switching the optical path from naked-eye viewing to astro-imaging is simple with a flip of the straight-through viewing path. A dovetail slide bar M allows the optical tube to be positioned at its center of gravity, and a metal carry handle enables quick attachment, detachment, and transport.
These features combine to deliver excellent performance across a wide variety of astronomical observing and astrophotography scenarios.
The telescope tube can be moved by hand freely and stays in place when released, allowing even beginners to start using it immediately without any complicated operations. For fine directional adjustments, merely use the fine adjustment knob. With an optional Polar Meter, anyone can easily align the telescope with the polar axis for quick, hassle-free astronomical observation (simple alignment method). When paired with an optional polar alignment scope PF-LII, accurate alignment can also be achieved with ease.
By rearranging modules and adding optional components, you can configure the system to suit your needs and skill level, allowing a single piece of equipment to be used effectively for many years.
It features three-section telescopic legs that extend to 130cm, the same length as a standard astronomical telescope tripod, yet can be shortened to about 60cm for compact storage. It combines the sturdiness of a telescope tripod with the portability and ease of storage of a camera tripod. The legs have two options at their feet, a common feature on camera tripod legs, allowing you to use either rubber or spike feet, depending on your setup. Rubber tips are recommended for indoor use to protect the flooring. In addition to use with the AP series mounts, it is also compatible with the GP2 equatorial mount and the Porta II altazimuth mount.
