The POLARIE Set-up Kit is complete with the POLARIE Multi Mounting Vlock, Dovetail Slide Bar DD, POLARIE Polar Scope PFL-II and POLARIE Fine Adjustment Unit. If you already have a POLARIE Star Tracker, this heavy loading kit is beneficial to your deep sky astrophotography with a telephoto lens.
With use of the POLARIE Multi Mounting Block and Dovetail Slide Bar DD, the maximum loading weight of the POLARIE is increased to 6.5kg. An optional counyerweight 1.0kg is a must to balance with photographic instruments such as a heavy DSLR camera. The maximum laoding weight will be decreased to 4kg if the POLARIE Fine Adjustment Unit is combined.
Accurate polar alignment is essential for successful long exposre astrophotography with the POLARIE. The POLARIE polar scope PF-L II comes equipped with a special reticle which is designed for a simple and accurate polar alignment. You bring Polaris and two other stars into the polar scope's field of view so that each can be matched with the designated position on the scale in the reticle. That's all you have to do for the polar alignment.
What is the polar alignment? In the northern hemisphere, stars appear to turn around the north celestial pole (near Polaris). This is called diurnal motion and you will need to set up the POLARIE in the direction of the NCP to follow the rotation of the stars. Turn the POLARIE to the NCP in the southern hemisphere.
