A small telescope used for locating celestial objects.

This 50mm aperture finderscope is designed for use with astronomical telescopes. Its low 7× magnification offers a wide field of view, making it easy to locate target celestial objects in the night sky. By centering a celestial object on the crosshairs (reticle), you can simultaneously bring the same object into the field of view of the main telescope.

Vixen Telescope 7x50mm Finder II with Illuminated Reticle Description

  • Equipped with a Red Illuminated Reticle. Excellent Visibility in a Dark Field of View of an Eyepiece!

It features a built-in red LED illuminator for the reticle, ensuring the crosshairs remain visible against a dark sky. The brightness is adjustable, allowing you to set the illumination to your preference. The center of the crosshairs is open, preventing the target star from being obscured and enabling precise centering.

  • Detachable Eyepiece Unit (31.7mm push-fit)*1

The eyepiece unit features a removable 31.7mm (1.25-inch) push-fit eyepiece. This new system allows you to remove the pre-installed eyepiece and attach a separately sold CMOS guide camera *2 with a 31.7 mm eyepiece barrel, enabling use of the finderscope as a guide scope *3.

    Notes:
*1 Eyepiece Compatibility: Removing the provided eyepiece unit (with crosshairs reticle) and installing another 31.7mm eyepiece will prevent the finderscope from reaching focus. Therefore, separately sold eyepieces cannot be used with this finderscope for visual observation.

*2 CMOS Guide Camera Compatibility: This finderscope is designed to reach focus with cameras having a back focus distance of approximately 17 mm (measured from the undercut on the 31.7mm nosepiece (barrel) to the camera's sensor plane).
Depending on the CMOS cameras you use, the focus position may differ. Please make any necessary adjustments beforehand, including how you attach the CMOS camera and focus the finderscope, before use.
(If you focus your CMOS camera by turning the objective lens cell to shift, you will need to refocus when reinstalling the eyepiece unit.)

*2 Use it as a Guide Scope: When you use this finderscope as the guide scope, we strongly recommend using it with a 50mm Low-profile finder bracket (S) sold separately that ensures rigid connection.
